The Gmail's password is no longer accepted to send emails over SMTP. This articled will describe how to create an app password to make sending emails over SMTP still possible.
NOTE: Sending emails over SMTP is a feature only available through the Google Docs version of the add-on. To access the settings go to Google Docs > Extentions > Mail Merge > SMTP SettingsĀ
In the past years to send emails over Gmail's smtp you would have to user your Google account password. This caused some vulnerabilities hence Google changed things so that you need to create a password specific for your SMTP app.
To create a unique App password for Gmail's SMTP follow these steps
Under How you sign in to Google, click 2-Step Verification. Enable 2-Step verification if it is not already enabled.
Under App passwords click the > icon.
Enter 'Mail Merge SMTP' as your new App Name and click the Create button
A 16-character password is created and shown in bold. Copy and save (somewhere secure) your password.
Enter the password in your Quicklution's Mail Merge SMTP Settings.
Click the blue Save button. This should send a Test email to your email account to prove that Gmail SMTP Is not working.
